The Ashland Arrows girls soccer team, currently ranked 8th in the state for DI girls soccer got off to a quick start, scoring two goals in the first 4 minutes of the game. Wooster would then settle in and battle the Artowsnevenly over the final 77 minutes, eventually stealing the momentum with Wooster’s Alexa Sommer scoring to pull within one with 15 minutes remaining. Wooster would press the Arrows to the brink but could never find the equalizer. Ashland would outshoot Wooster 14-11 while Wooster had the Edge in corners 8-5. Dani Legg would make 10 saves to hold the high powered Ashland offensento just 2 goals.
“I’m very proud of that effort. We lost three more starters during the game and to battle back like that against a team that good is to be respected,” said Coach Cerniglia. “It’s unfortunate but we’ll pick our heads up and move on.”
It’s not going to get any easier as Wooster will host conference rival Madison, currently ranked 4th in the state, a team home on Thursday.
